Never say "weather permitting". You may as well perform a rain dance.
For our kettlebellers, on Monday evenings, most workouts have been steamy, sweaty affairs. Except for a welcome warm breeze, the sun has been stinging on the skin, especially as the workout gets into full stride.
With the right hydration and by taking rest where needed, everybody has survived without heat problems, and everyone is making progress. Progress can be measured in terms of how breathless you get during familiar exercises, how sore the muscles feel, how long you can sustain an exercise and how quickly you recover between movements, among others.
Safety is always a concern, and we must take care of posture throughout the workout. This takes on extra importance as the body tires and as posture and form decreases in quality.
The key point with kettlebells and most weight training, is that form is always the most important factor if progress is to be made, without injuries and strains. As far as I'm concerned, once your form deteriorates during a set of presses, pulls, twists or lifts, you should stop right there, take a break, and come back later to do some more.
You have reached your limit for that set, and you have ignited the system that will change the body into a fitter, stronger, more subtle and toned form.
I would like to thank all who have and who are still members of the class. I hope it continues to be enjoyed and providing an effective result, and that it busts some stress, at least for an hour, as it does me!
